Title  A Moon for the Misbegotten
Eugene O'Neill, who wrote many works produced for the stage, presented this autobiographic play to the publisher as a literary work "unedited for the stage." As with Long Day's Journey Into Night, that tells of the earlier lives of two of the characters, the play reveals O'Neill's family and neighbors in a harsh light. Jamie Tyrone, based on his older brother, is shown to be a drunkard. The characters are self-deprecating of their Irish heritage, yet never fail to plug those of English descent for being elitists and boot-lickers. Their praise is reserved for those who do for themselves. Link to reviews Click picture
