The Irish in Film
A Complete List of Irish Films

 Title  On Broadway
Attending the Irish wake of his uncle who died suddenly, a local Boston man is struck with the need to tell his story. And, more importantly, he wants to capture the Irish family, its rituals and its culture in a play. He needs to show how the wake serves as a time the Irish can show deep emotion. There is only one problem: he has never written a play before. Here we have the film of the writing and producing of that play. The film, like the wake, reminisces about the good times and the bad times. It is a drama but, of course, sees the humor in many situations. The settings capture the interiors and exteriors of Boston far better than high-budget Hollywood films. The local casting is also a treat. Link to reviews Click picture
