An adaptation of Frank McCourt's book which details his early life in the lanes of Limerick and later emigration to America. Because of the perspective of autobiography, this film is free of the typical Irish clichés. We see life in Limerick through a child's eyes. Though there is poverty, there is also humor and though there is tragedy, there is also triumph.
