 Title  Amongst Women
This four-part mini-series depicts a family in transition in 1950's Ireland. At this time Ireland, as well as the rest of the western world, was changing quite rapidly. Sons no longer believed that Da was the only authority and actually made their own decisions. Daughters longed to join the new ranks of teaches and nurses (even considered medical school). What's a man to do? The great cultural shift was great for everyone except for the authoritarian father who lost his absolute control over the family. As an IRA veteran who served his country, he believes it is his right to be in control. It takes a lot to give up this rigid rule, but only by letting go of it can one achieve the truly satisfying level of love and relationships with the family. Link to reviews Click picture
